Parents of children in the Second Grade will be receiving information about a new swim safety program. All Second Grade students are invited to participate in the 5 day swim safety course held at the Central Branch of the YMCA in Painesville. Students will be taken to the YMCA each day and return to school, much like a school field trip. All students will need to bring a bathing suit and towel to school each day. The Raider Rack at Family Resource Center has bathing suits available, if needed. Please contact Amber Torres at (440) 392-5548, to schedule an appointment.
The information packet you will be receiving contains a Swim Safety Permission Slip and a complete program description from the YMCA. Students will learn the safety techniques from certified instructors at the YMCA. Students will be supervised by lifeguards, PCSL staff, and YMCA volunteers.
Class Schedule:
Chestnut Elementary Students: April 23 - 27
Maple Elementary Students: April 30 - May 4
Elm Street Students: May 7 - May 11
The community of Painesville has worked to fund this project. There is no cost for students to participate. We thank the Painesville Community Improvement Corporation, the Western Reserve Junior Service League and the Painesville City Local Schools Education Foundation for their financial support.
