Heather’s teacher, Mrs. Amanda Rossignol, submitted her writing because “Heather wrote a great research project about chameleons. She even added text features like pictures and a table of contents. She continuously improves on her writing and goes above and beyond what is asked for.”
Edie’s teacher, Mrs. Amanda Rossignol, also submitted her writing because “Edie went above and beyond in her research about sea turtles. She added extra text features and ways to help turtles. She created a great book of research for animals.”
Heather and Edie were presented with a certificate of achievement and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. The PCLS Curriculum Department/Teaching and Learning Team developed the W-o-W! program to recognize the hard work and creativity of PCLS students. In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction. Heather and Edie will be invited to read their writing at an upcoming board of education meeting.
